Waiting to travel again? What to know before you do.

We have been in our homes for long. It feels like ages since we have been locked in our houses and even traveling to a neighboring city is prohibited. Hearing about vacations itself gives a feeling of excitement. But what will it be like traveling again? The thrill of seeing a new place, the adventurous journey, the bookings and packing for the trip .But isn’t it too soon to even think about stepping out! We need to be careful when preparing for a trip in these tough times. Hasty decisions sometimes can turn out to be worst nightmares. So when can we travel again and what the the things to keep in mind considering for the same?Read on.

I recently read a news that normalcy is returning in China. Hope everything will start returning to “normal” again soon in the world as well. But first things first. Indian Airlines and other transportation hasn’t been operational for people since lock down. If the curve starts to flatten, transport will start working. As a result, people may flock together to travel for work or urgent reasons. Thousands of migrant people stuck in different parts of country will have to take risk to move back to their hometown. For them, it’s a need because they must have been stuck somewhere for too long. But if you are safely sitting on your couch reading this at the comfort of your home, you are the privileged one.

Traveling is a luxury. It requires time, efforts and finances. If the dust starts settling, people would prepare to take a getaway. Since it will be summers, many would want to travel up North to get respite from scorching heat. The kids have summer vacations which will allow families to take vacations to spend time together. But taking precautions is our best bet. Think if it will be worth taking that big a risk for yourself and your loved ones! It would take us some more time to get back on track completely hence staying low for some more time won’t harm anyone.

Why Traveling Domestic is the need of the hour ?

This pandemic has affected lot of families especially the one’s associated with Tourism. The little help we can do from our end is help these families and travel locally. Tourism plays a big part in raising the economy of a country. From travel guides, craftsmen, artisans and all the people associated with them, their livelihood depends on tourists. Traveling locally creates employment. Responsible travel generates greater benefits. We need to be sure where our money is actually going and who is taking the cut. Sometimes, the middle men makes the most of the profit which doesn’t reach the breadwinner.
HOW?
A lot of us like traveling in comfort looking for luxurious resorts and all inclusive packages. I get it. It’s totally fine since it’s your hard earned money and vacations are meant to be relaxing. But to get the best of both worlds, dedicate a small time staying in one of the home stays. Get to know the resident population. Visit a local restaurant and shop products from authentic sellers. Adapting to their local habits will create less import options from outside which in turn will help the region develop.

A few more Pro’s of traveling local:
1) No visa hassle before the beginning of the trip
2) Much more economic and affordable.
3) No language barriers and no currency exchange requirement.
4) Variety of culinary options for the foodies.

India is so rich in heritage and culture and there isn’t a lack of options to explore. The wide diversity, the topography and one of the oldest civilizations can give us some of the most memorable vacations of our life. Before planning, consider giving a thought to this and be safe.

Till then, take care! Au revoir.
